The 2022 harvest was the 20th for this wine! The 2003 season yielded grapes that were perfect to make Sangiovese the protagonist of a single grape wine... at the time it was presented like this: “Finally the right year has arrived for the creation of a wine pursued for some years now, reminiscent of a few good glasses tasted in far off days in the homes of friends or farmers, with an unforgettable taste. Special wines that emerged in exceptional years and, perhaps, were even more extraordinary precisely for that reason. So, in the hottest season of the last 30 years, we have managed to obtain a wine with great personality, with clear-cut aromas that eco the grapes of the “quintessential Tuscan vine”, a wine with a vivid, intensely fruity, dry taste, with rounded tannins and great body.”
Tasting notes of the 2022 vintage - Colour: bright, blood red, with slight garnet reflections during medium-long ageing in the bottle (this wine is destined for lengthy ageing). The nose: elegantly spiced, with a slight herbaceous touch, notes of small, red forest fruits and a characteristic hint of violet. In the mouth: expansive with intense tannins, typical of Sangiovese, but pleasantly sweet with a dry finale.
Wine and Food Pairing – It expresses, 100%, its territory and naturally teams up with flavoursome, robust first courses (pappardelle with meat ragu, ribollita, pici with “Salsa Etrusca”), succulent roasts, tasty stews such as “peposo” from Impruneta, and “ciacce fritte e finocchiona” (Tuscan fried flatbread and fennel salami)...
Awards – Silver Medal for the 2019 vintage at the Mundus Vini Biofach 2021, Nuremberg, Germany.
