This is a superlative wine that ages longer (in the cellar at Casa Conforto farmstead), is more full-bodied, more dense, more concentrated and more complex, both in its colour and its character. The extremely favourable 2012 season, with a hot, dry summer, gave us healthy grapes that were incredibly rich in sugars and aromas.
Tasting – Colour: strong amber-yellow, with coffee coloured highlights, and limpid. The nose: blond tobacco, mushroom, aromas of forest floor with delicate hints of vanilla and dried fruit, in particular dehydrated apricot. In the mouth: “oily” due to the high concentration of alcohol and sugar; succulent and caramelly. It seems to envelop the entire palate. Extremely long persistence.
Wine and Food Pairing – It is a wine for pampering yourself and your friends: it doesn’t need any other company. Those who want to be daring can try it with mature pecorino – a Riserva – and a couple of drops of honey, or with rich, aromatic, sweet delicacies such as Panpepato from Siena or bittersweet chocolate, very bittersweet!
