One of La Vialla’s signature wines, imagined, desired and determinedly realised by Piero Lo Franco over 25 years ago. A Super Tuscan free from the “ties” of regulations, a red that is dark, strong, full-bodied, but well-balanced between the fresh, tannic Sangiovese, the elegant Cabernet and the soft Merlot. In 2018 the three grape varieties, which differ for their characteristics and ripening times, all had perfect harvests. The weather gave us the possibility to programme picking, something rare, and consequently the other tasks to be done.
Tasting – Colour: deep ruby red with violet highlights. The nose: sweet, red fruit, winey, hints of fresh plums and raspberry. With ageing, spicy notes, blond tobacco and leather come to life. In the mouth: soft, enveloping but not overpowering. Fruity sensations with a dry, persistent aftertaste.
Wine and Food Pairing – A companion for Tuscan first courses, from soups to pappardelle with ragu, but also for risotto with porcini mushrooms, roast red meats, grilled cheeses, flavoursome cold cuts and medium mature cheese…
