Grape blend: 100% Uva Fragola
“Uva Fragola” is a rare grape, tasting of strawberries (“fragola” means strawberry in Italian), which we press at the Fattoria to obtain a soft, sweet, fizzy juice, with a distinctive flavour. La Vialla’s Uva Fragola vines are grown in the Maremma area, at Paganico (in a semi-abandoned vineyard brought back into production). Here the hot and extremely dry season put the grapes to the test as well, with a marked delay in ripening, which was blocked by excessive heat and drought. After mid-August, when the rain finally arrived with cooler days (and nights), the vines regained their vigour, and the grapes were able to carry on ripening until mid-September. The procedure used to make this juice is the same as La Vialla’s other sparkling grape juices, cold-pressed, without adding anything except for food-grade carbon dioxide to make it fizzy, and the sugar it contains is purely that found in the grapes themselves. It enhances every occasion with vivacity and a unique taste, a welcome guest, thanks to its flavour and lovely colour, at a christening, or a child’s or teenager’s birthday party. Also to be offered to adults who don’t like or are unable to drink alcohol, a freshly squeezed grape juice with something “extra” in its DNA and… its flavour!
The first sip: it’s a lively ruby red, with purple highlights and slightly cloudy due to the sediment in the bottle. The aroma is blatantly reminiscent of a fresh purée of grapes, wild strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. The flavour is fresh and delicious, with an effervescence that accentuates the aromas and maintains the taste at length in the mouth.
