In 2017 the Syrah, for the second vintage to "appear“ from the winery, had to tackle frost in April, then heat and drought in the summer. This led to scarce production of bunches... but they were much more concentrated! The vines accumulated sugars, polyphenols and anthocyanins in the few grapes that grew: when tasting them in the vineyard, fingers were stained as soon as the skins broke! The 24 months of ageing took place partly in 36 hl Slavonian oak casks and partly in 500 l Tonneaux barrels, followed by around 12 months in the bottle.
Tasting – Its deep, dark ruby red colour already tinges the glass as it is swirled. Bringing it close to the nose you immediately perceive the aroma, also recalled by the colour, of Marasca cherries. Floral notes and intense red currant stand out and, more delicately, vanilla and blond tobacco in the finish, together with a pinch of liquorice and the typical black pepper. It unfolds assertively in the mouth, filling it amply with its consistency and its body supported by the wealth of tannins. Still “almost” young, it’s slightly astringent and the noble tannins are clearly perceived, along with a structure that preludes to long ageing. A sinuous wine, bewitching, capable of complementing entire menus and pampering all your senses!
