Bright pink, with an aroma of wild strawberries, the exuberance of the little bubbles, and no alcohol – the sparkling “Uva Fragola” grape juice conveys the characteristics of this ancient, rare grape variety in the glass, with its flavour and aroma reminiscent of small red fruits. The vines were growing wild on La Vialla’s land in the Maremma area, where they were – luckily – rediscovered quite by chance! Unfortunately, the vinification of Uva Fragola grapes is not allowed in Italy, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be enjoyed in the form of a fresh, light, sparkling fruit juice. After pressing, only the first juice – the “cream” of the must – is collected and cooled to a temperature of 0 °C, to prevent fermentation. The coarse sediment is then removed, fine, delicate bubbles are added, and the “Spremuta” is ready to delight everyone. Children usually fall in love with it at first sight thanks to its colour, while adults appreciate it as a different, non-alcoholic drink to use for a toast, as an aperitif – with or without the addition of sparkling wine or still white wine – or for creative cocktails (with ingredients such as mint leaves, fresh strawberries, a splash of gin... let your imagination run wild!). As far as food pairings are concerned, it’s ideal with desserts and mild cheeses, as well as being suitable for a brunch or an unusual breakfast.
Tasting – Colour: bright pinkish purple, like the grapes from which it comes. The nose: wild strawberries, red currants and fresh grapes. In the mouth: its sweetness is just right, thanks to the natural sugar from the grapes that is well-balance by lively acidity. The little bubbles repropose for the palate the bouquet already appreciated by the nose.
