2020 was an excellent year for both the Montepulciano Cerasuolo grapes, with large close-knit bunches full of colour, and the Sangiovese, with fairly loosely clustered bunches of fleshy grapes. Two great Tuscan varieties, normally vinified in red, which are united – this year – in La Vialla’s still rosé wine. The must obtained from the Montepulciano Cerasuolo was fermented directly, while the Sangiovese grapes required light maceration, for 48 hours, in order to favour the extraction of aromas, polyphenols and colour.
Tasting – Colour: strong, bright, dusky pink, tending towards orange as it ages. The nose: small red fruits, in particular raspberry and cherry. In the mouth: light, almost crisp thanks to its freshness, it re-proposes the aromas just perceived throughout the palate with a dry finish.
Wine and Food Pairing – It’s a wine that loves all kinds of company; ideal as an aperitif and with tomato, fish or vegetable-based starters, as well as with white meat, with grilled meat and fish, with vegetables, cold cuts and cheeses. It’s a good base for sophisticated pink cocktails: a fresh, modern wine that is also tied to its territory and to tradition.
